Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSD) are equipped with a rotating cutter head that is used to break up and loosen the bottom sediment, which is then suctioned up and pumped out of the dredger. The cutter head on a CSD is made up of rotating blades that can be adjusted to cut through different types of sediment, such as sand, clay, and rock. The dredged material is pumped through a pipeline to a designated discharge location, such as a disposal site or a reclamation area.
CSDs are specialized vessels used for dredging operations in harbors, rivers, and other bodies of water. CSDs are typically used for deepening navigation channels, constructing new ports or harbors, and maintaining existing waterways.
CSDs come in various sizes and capacities, with some capable of dredging up to several thousand cubic meters of sediment per hour. They are commonly used in dredging operations around the world and are an essential part of many construction and maintenance projects related to maritime infrastructure.
Standard Designs
ECTMarine has a standard series of dredgers ranging from 250 to 650 mm discharge:
Quick Dredgers, Core Dredgers and Prime Dredgers.
Customized CSD's
ECTMarine dredging vessels can be customized to fit the application fully. Customization not only can be done in the dredger itself but also in the way of building.

Read moreAt ECTMarine, we follow a structured and customer-oriented approach to ensure that our clients receive the best solution for their dredging needs. The steps outlined below provide an overview of our acquisition process for Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSD), guiding you from initial inquiry to final delivery and beyond.
01
Initial inquiry & needs
assesment
The process begins with the initial inquiry from the client. We arrange a Teams meeting or a telephone conversation to gather the core details of the request. During this stage, we aim to understand the essential requirements of the project and the specific needs of the client
02
Site visit & proposal
If necessary, we arrange a site visit or visit to the project location to better understand the conditions and confirm the requirements. Based on this information, we present an initial proposal or budget offer to help shape the solution.
03
Finalizing technical specifications & commercial terms
Once the technical requirements are defined, we move to finalize the commercial terms. This includes agreeing on pricing, payment schedules, and delivery timelines, followed by the signing of the contract.
04
Construction or delivery
Following the contract, the project moves into construction for custom dredgers or immediate delivery if a stock dredger is available. We ensure timely and efficient execution according to the agreed-upon terms.
05
Training & ongoing support
Upon delivery, the warranty period begins, typically lasting 12 months. During the handover, we provide operator training to ensure proper use of the dredger. Additionally, we offer remote support and advice throughout the warranty period and beyond to assist with any operational needs.

This project was sold in 2020 and was successfully completed in 2022. The dredger is a Cutter Suction type with a total installed power of 1286 kW and a mixture production of 4000 m3/ hour. This dredger is designed and built to the latest standards and developments and has safety features such as a pump bulkhead to prevent flooding in case of a pump failure. The dredger got the name “BACALAR” when it entered the dredging fleet of SEMAR in 2022. The max dredging depth is 14 meters with 180kW cutter power. To increase dredging effectiveness the BACALAR is fitted with a spud carrier.
This project was sold in 2016 and was successfully completed in 2017. The dredger is a Cutter Suction type with a total installed power of 632 kW and a mixture production of 2500 m3/ hour. The dredger has been working in river Brahmaputra where it has been making sure the water inlet is kept free of sand brought by the river from the mountains. The water inlet provides water to the city of Guwahati.
The Quick Dredge Series is ECTMarine’s smallest and most versatile dredger. It comes in two different configurations, which can also be combined in one vessel. The Quick dredge is unique beceause of:
Production
600 cubic meters per hour
Dredging Depth
8 to 15 meters
1 Person
Operation and maintenance
Transport
In a 40 foot container
The Quick Dredge Series consists of two variants: the Quick Mining Dredge and the Quick Cutter Dredge. These can be deployed for various projects. Curious about the possibilities?
