Plain suction dredging is a technique that uses a suction pump connected to a long pipe to extract sediment and transport it to a designated location, such as a containment area or disposal site. Widely employed across industries like construction, mining, and marine transportation, this method serves various purposes, including clearing waterways to ensure navigability, extracting valuable resources from the seabed, and supporting the construction of infrastructure like bridges and piers.
ECTMarine specializes in providing high-quality dredge components designed to enhance the performance and reliability of dredging equipment. By offering expertly crafted components, ECTMarine helps optimize the efficiency and return on investment of your dredging operations. Whether you are engaged in plain suction dredging for construction, mining, or marine transportation, ECTMarine’s solutions are tailored to support sediment removal, resource extraction, and infrastructure development with precision and durability.

At ECTMarine, we follow a structured and customer-oriented approach to ensure that our clients receive the best solution for their dredging needs. The steps outlined below provide an overview of our acquisition process for a Plain Suction Dredger (PSD), guiding you from initial inquiry to final delivery and beyond.
01
Initial inquiry & needs
assesment
The process begins with the initial inquiry from the client. We arrange a Teams meeting or a telephone conversation to gather the core details of the request. During this stage, we aim to understand the essential requirements of the project and the specific needs of the client
02
Site visit & proposal
If necessary, we arrange a site visit or visit to the project location to better understand the conditions and confirm the requirements. Based on this information, we present an initial proposal or budget offer to help shape the solution.
03
Finalizing technical specifications & commercial terms
Once the technical requirements are defined, we move to finalize the commercial terms. This includes agreeing on pricing, payment schedules, and delivery timelines, followed by the signing of the contract.
04
Construction or delivery
Following the contract, the project moves into construction for custom dredgers or immediate delivery if a stock dredger is available. We ensure timely and efficient execution according to the agreed-upon terms.
05
Training & ongoing support
Upon delivery, the warranty period begins, typically lasting 12 months. During the handover, we provide operator training to ensure proper use of the dredger. Additionally, we offer remote support and advice throughout the warranty period and beyond to assist with any operational needs.

This project was started in 2023 and was successfully completed in 2024. The dredger is multifunctional as it can be manufactured in a configuration of a plain suction dredger as well as in the configuration of a cutter suction dredger. This dredger was constructed in the capital of South Africa and transported to its final destination in Mozambique. Total installed power is 711 kW with a jet power at the suction head of 75 kW. The plain suction configuration can reach up to 18 meters in depth.
This project was sold in 2019 and was successfully completed in 2020. The dredger is of Plain Suction type with a total installed power of 300 kW with a mixture production of 900 m3/ hour. This dredger has been sand mining near the capital city of Lagos since its completion in 2019.
The Quick Dredge Series is ECTMarine’s smallest and most versatile dredger. It comes in two different configurations, which can also be combined in one vessel. The Quick dredge is unique beceause of:
Production
600 cubic meters per hour
Dredging Depth
8 to 15 meters
1 Person
Operation and maintenance
Transport
In a 40 foot container
The Quick Dredge Series consists of two variants: the Quick Mining Dredge and the Quick Cutter Dredge. These can be deployed for various projects. Curious about the possibilities?
